HEAT PROTECTION & POWER SAVING
Summer comfort
Depending on the fabric colour, the temperature in a room can be lowered by 5°C to 15°C by controlling direct radiation, therefore Mermet fabrics can reduce the need for air-conditioning by a quarter to one-third when used for an internal blind. Power savings can be more than 60% when the fabric is used for exterior blinds, which aids in the reduction of Greenhouse gas emissions.
An effective heat barrier, the fabric cuts out up to 97% of solar radiation with exterior blinds and up to 67% with interior blinds.
Winter comfort
Solar protection is also an asset in winter as it controls the glare caused by the angles of sun’s rays being lower, and helps insulate by reducing the loss of heat through the glazing.
REDUCTION OF UV RADIATION
UV radiation is responsible for the discolouring effects of sunlight on furnishing fabrics, flooring and furniture.
Mermet transparent fabrics block up to 96% of UV and Mermet Dim out and blackout fabrics block up to 100% of UV.
LIGHT CONTROL
In any environment the lighting is a crucial element for comfort, and is a decisive factor of productivity. Glare and reflection are a major cause of visual fatigue. To optimise the visual comfort of occupants, solar protection helps to distribute natural light more effectively. It prevents glare and cuts out the reflection on computer screens with only a slight loss of luminosity.
ACOUSTIC COMFORT
In buildings open to the public, especially for tertiary or cultural activities, conversation has to be intelligible and ambient noise levels kept down.
A calm atmosphere is also more conducive to productivity at work and is difficult to achieve with large open space areas.
Mermet has developed Acoustis® 50, a coated fibreglass fabric with a patented special acoustic weave for all acoustic absorption functions, in external and internal applications.
Lightweight, with excellent mechanical resistance and perfect dimensional stability, Acoustis® 50 is easy to fit for tensile panels, frames, netting, veranda panels, office partitions, blinds, or tensioned ceilings.
Acoustis® 50 is available in a wide colour range and in 250cm width to blend perfectly with interior decoration schemes.

Besides its aesthetic originality and lightness, the fabric allows creativity by printing artworks or making unusual shapes which will enhance the atmosphere in a building, and communicate messages.
Architecture
Tensioned fabric architecture makes it possible to see and design space differently. It partitions without enclosing, separates without isolating, combining rigor with fluidity, light and transparency. Fixed on rigid frames or by cables, the fabric curves, undulates and merges with the concept laid out for it by the designer. Because the fabric is made of evenly coated fibreglass, it neither stretches nor shrinks. Its outstanding mechanical properties guarantee excellent resistance to breaking and tearing. The fabric remains perfectly taut and does not lose its shape.

Museums, stores, foyers, offices... for all graphic communication needs, indoor and outdoor, permanent or temporary, Mermet is the medium of excellence. Printing results on all Mermet fabrics are perfect, whatever the marking process: digital printing, screen-printing, paint, transfer or adhesive.
